Ecuadorian Amazon in 4 days

4 Days/ 3 Nights in the Ecuadorian Amazon with Sani Lodge

Imagine spending three days in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, where every detail of your adventure is meticulously taken care of by the experts at Sani Lodge. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be immersed in the sights, sounds, and culture of one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet. Here’s what your 3-day journey could look like:

Day 1: Arrival and introduction to the Amazon

Your adventure begins in Quito, where you’ll take a short flight to Coca, a small town nestled on the banks of the Napo river. Upon arrival, Sani Lodge’s team will greet you and guide you to a motorized canoe for a scenic ride down the river. As you cruise through the jungle keep your eyes peeled for wildlife along the banks and in the trees.

A serene paddle through smaller waterways brings you to Sani Lodge, where you’ll be welcomed with a refreshing drink and a warm introduction to the lodge’s eco-friendly facilities. After settling into your comfortable accomodations, join your guides for a short orientation hike. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner featuring locally sourced ingredients, followed by a night-walk to experience the rainforest’s nocturnal wonders. Equipeed with flashlights, you’ll explore the jungle in search of frogs, insects and other creatures.

Day 2: Immersive Amazon Exploration

Rise early for a morning excursion into the forest. After breakfast, embark ona guided hike through the rainforest where your knowledgeable guides will share insights into the ecosystem and point out wildlife as you see them. Return to the lodge for lunch and some downtime before going out again in the afternoon. We chose to go piranha fishing. It was such an experience and I certainly wasn’t prepared to see how pretty these scary little fishes can be.

Day 3: Visit Kichwa community

Wake up at 4AM and after a sit down breakfast board a motor canoe and visit the Parrot Clay Lick in Yasuní National Park. After watching the parrots continue to the Yasuni National Park where the guide will take you on another hike into the forest to see wildlife.

Leave Yasuní Park and head to the Sani Isla Community Center. Here, the Kichwa women will share their customs and culture. You get to experience an Amazonian cooking class at midday. After lunch return to the lodge before setting out in the late afternoon to go to the canopy tower on the property. Perched high above the treetops, you’ll have a birds-eye view of the forest and its vibrant avian life. Spot toucans, parrots and other exotic species as the sun sets.

Day 4: Farewell to the Rainforest

On the final morning, after an early breakfast take a peaceful canoe ride on the lagoon to soak in the tranquility of the Amazon one last time and make your journey back to Coca to take the flight to Quito.
